Cancer Awareness Drive

Run Marathon

Name: St. John Technical Campus – NSS units (SJCEM, SJIPR, SJCHS)

Participants: NSS Volunteers of ( SJCEM, SJIPR, SJCHS).

Time: 06:30 am to 11:00 am

Place: Hutatama Chauki, Palghar

ST. John Technical campus – NSS units (SJCEM, SJIPR, SJCHS) always encourages for social athletic events like marathons, sports etc. One of this occasion was the RUN MARATHON organised by Impact Cluster group at Palghar. Maharashtra Yuva Krida Mandal had organized “Impact Cluster” marathon for people of all ages at Palghar. There were arrangement made at vast level at Panchbatti memorial. The NSS volunteers also took part and served with helping hands in order to make this event successful. NSS volunteers from St. John Technical Campus contributed greatly for this event to be successful.

All the NSS members were at the event place right from half past six in the morning. Everyone was excited and determined to participate in their first major NSS event. Not only volunteers from Palghar but also from Virar, Vasai, Boisar, and Saphale participated in this event. They took the job of noting down the marathon runners, handling the traffic during marathon and making sure everything was right ,up to the mark. They were not only responsible but also made sure that the marathon participants were Confident.

It was quite a tough job to get the things done correctly as it was organised for the first time. But they were filled determination and with faithfulness carry on the responsibilities it was successful one. Hundreds of people took part in this marathon. There were many categories in this marathon as per age and distance. The winners were awarded.

Every volunteer took the job of making sure that each of deserving marathon runners got their number entered into the list as per the marathon criteria. They made it sure that the candidates were in the list. It was not an easy task to register all the candidates as they were very large in numbers. But efforts of each personnel brought the success because of hard work and determination. Also, the organization made it sure every volunteer was given the required material to get the job done.

This experience must have proved to be very fruitful for the new enrolled volunteers as it was their first task of National Service Scheme. They became aware of responsibilities and the unity required to get the plans executed properly. This was just the first step in the Service scheme they have shown great determination to be part of. Everyone came to know the team better and as we all know the importance of team spirit and dignity of labour in Carrying on such Social Service. The first step seemed to be a very best task and everybody enjoyed it thoroughly.

This was a great event for the NSS volunteers and hope to see such events in future too.


Health & Hygiene, Cleanliness Drive

Place: Aabacha pada Zilla Parishad School, Aabcha pada, Palghar

ST. John Technical campus - NSS Units ( SJCEM,SJIPR,SJCHS) , always believes in encouraging students for cleanliness and hygiene. They always carry out many drives and programmes for spreading the awareness more and more especially more in the interior areas like Zilla Parishad schools and pathsallas. Health and Hygiene drives are very important for sections of our society as they are not aware of all facts. Such drives gives opportunity to everyone to live a healthy and hygiene life. One of such occasion was organized on 23rd September 2017 at Aabacha pada Zilla Parishad School and Bhendi pada Zilla Parishad School, Palghar by the NSS units of ST. John Technical campus. Thanks, for the teaching authorities for fully co-operating and allowing us to carry out the drive.

Around 60 Students from the NSS units, divided into two groups of 30 students of SJCEM, SJIPR, SJCHS came together to carry out the Cleanliness and Hygiene Drive at the village primary school. The village was around 12 kms from the main town and all volunteers made sure they all participated in this event. The main motto of this drive was to make the little children aware of the cleanliness and hygiene methods. They used paper soap and nail cutters for demonstration of methods of keeping ourselves clean. Every member along with all the students seemed to be very excited for this event.

There were around 70 students present in each of the Zilla Parishad School. Event started with the introduction to the importance of cleanliness and hygiene. All were given the awareness on cleanliness & hygiene. The communication barrier was taken care off and fluent speakers took the task of passing the message to little kids present in the school.

Also, many games were conducted i.e Kho-Kho, Passing the mark along with songs and dance. All students participated enthusiastically. Not only the students but also volunteers participated in all the games. The atmosphere was very exiting & enlightening the honesty and determination of students. After the games, students were taught various methods to keep the premise clean. They were demonstrated various methods and solution for dealing with the garbage around. All the volunteers and students cleaned the surrounding areas of school and villages and collected the garbage to be proper disposed in a place. All the students were very active and participated with full enthusiasm.

Last but not the least, all the students were taught how to clean their hands properly with soaps they were instructed to do the same at their home and spread the message of cleanliness and hygiene and practice it too. Everyone was then given an opportunity to present their skills and talents and it proved to be one of the most amazing sessions of the event. Every student enjoyed and learned to a great extent. All this became possible with the determination and willingness of the volunteers and the school authorities.

Thus a great event came to an end with thanking each other and with a group photo of all the students, school staff and the NSS team. The credit goes to all the management and authorities who made this possible and to all the students who willingly participated in this event with great excitement and willingness.

Conservation of Forest Rally at Palghar

Venue : Aryan ground, Dist: - Palghar , (West)

The students of St. John Technical Campus , Palghar – NSS units ( SJCEM, SJIPR, SJCHS) had participated in the rally organized by the forest department for conservation of forest in wildlife.

The rally was inaugurated by the forest department and there were the officers of the forest department who cooperated with the students to make public aware about the importance of the forest conservation

Along with government officials Various Schools and colleges from Palghar Taluka also participated in this rally. NSS students from St John Technical Campus – NSS units ( SJCEM, SJIPR, SJCHS) and the students from different schools were involved in this rally. A total of 45 NSS Volunteers participated in the rally. The students were very enthusiastic to participate in the rally. They shouted slogan which made the public to be attracted towards the importance of conservation of forest and wildlife. The rally was started from the Aryan ground to Panchbatti and from Panchbatti to Kacheri road and then returned back to the destination. Almost all the areas of Palghar were covered to convey the conversation message to the people.

The objective of this drive was to create awareness on the conservation of forest and wildlife through the medium of a rally. Forest conservation department arranged breakfast for the students after completion of the programme.

Non-Violence Rally & Beach Cleanliness Drive

Organized by : Prof. Maqsood Memon, Mr. Sachin Urade, Prof. Amol Gholap

The students of St. John Technical Campus , Palghar – NSS Units ( SJCEM,SJIPR, SJCHS) , had participated in the Rally on Non Violence and Kelve Beach Cleanliness Drive which was organized by Palghar District Zilla Parishad, approved by Forest Department, Palghar on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti on 2nd October, 2017. It was conducted on behalf of “ Maha Swachhta Abhiyan”.

Along with government officials Various Schools and colleges from Palghar Taluka also participated in this Drive. NSS students from SDSM College, Students of Zilla Parishad and St. John Technical Campus – NSS Units (SJCEM, SJIPR,SJCHS) . A total of 50 NSS Volunteers had participated in this drive. Zilla Parishad Palghar had provided the volunteers with the handgloves and garbage carrying bags. The students were very enthusiastic about the Cleanliness Drive.

The objective of this drive was to Create awareness about hygiene and sanitation of the surrounding areas and maintain the cleanliness around the beach.
