Pharmacognosy

Encompasses the study of crude drugs that include plant, animal and marine sources. The subject deals with the discovery, characterization, Production and standardization of drugs from natural sources and forms a basis in the study of nutraceuticals and cosmeceuticals.

These four core subjects are complemented by the study of other auxiliary subjects like Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Hospital Pharmacy, Drug Store Management, Forensic Pharmacy, Mathematics, Statistical, as well as Industrial Psychology and Sociology. With this intense program of study a graduate in Pharmacy is equipped for an array of career opportunities available in Formulation & Manufacturing, Research & Development, Quality Control & Analysis, Regulatory Affairs, Marketing & Sales, to even Hospital & Community Pharmacy.

The department has a well-maintained Medicinal Plant Garden consisting of over 30 species of medicinal plants.
